Posted: Thu May 30, 2019 2:47 am Post subject: Pulseaudio no sound on users. Okay had to drop both nvidia driver, firefox v52 esr and add pulse audio. Been a couple of problems. The last one seems that pulseaudio can't connect to the alsa output on users. (presume it still use alsa from kernel to masquerade as a system driver.

I have alsa, pulseaudio and alsa-oss installed. The sound cards are Xtreme Audio PCI & onboard HDA Intel. I prefer Intel since it uses 5.1 surround, & b/c the Creative card has no open source driver.

Solved, thanks! My non-JACK apps do indeed appear to use Pulseaudio (I had no idea until I started digging, at Headrift's suggestion), which JACK was stopping. Starting Pulseaudio back up from the command line ($ pulseaudio --start) after I'm done with JACK gets it going again. Visit Zirbert's homepage!
