i'm using Ubuntu 15.04. I'm can't make Rosegarden work to produce a sound. The music corsor runs over the score, but ... no sound! In QSYNTH i SET mIDI TO ALSA_SEQ, Audio to pulseaudio and soundfonts to FluidR3_GM.sf2. In rosegarden manage MIDI Devices I choooze Synth1 Input Port and yes I started qsynth before Rosegarden.

The Rosegarden start-up screen says to install a synth app. I installed Qsynth but don't know how to use it with Rosegarden. The start-up screen also says to install Jack for audio. I have done so but am not sure how to start Jack or check to see if it is running. I also don't know how to tell Rosegarden to use Jack for audio input and output.

You may be able to solve this problem by loading the RTC timer kernel module. To do this, try running sudo modprobe snd-rtctimer in a terminal window and then restarting Rosegarden. Alternatively, check whether your Linux distributor provides a multimedia-optimized kernel. See Rosegarden website for notes about this. I couldn't make it.

The only way to have no sound from Rosegarden playing back, is to disconnect in the alsa tab of Qjackctl the Rosegarden Midi output (left column) from the emu10k1 port 0 (Midi port of hardware synth/wavetable) in RG audio settings i have checked “Use of jack transpose”.
