My continued search for the perfect integrated amp. finally brought me to the Rogue Tempest Magnum, which I listened to for as long as they would allow at Sound by Singer (about an hour). This is a wonderfully engaging amplifier. The sound is very smooth, rich and life-like.

I guess the bottom line on the Rogue Tempest II (mine is the Magnum version) is that it is an excellent musical solution for anyone. I was simply looking to 'downsize' but I did so without any real compromise at all. And my significant other finds having fewer boxes in …

SoundStage! Equipment Review - Rogue Audio Tempest II ...

In revising the original design, Rogue Audio got rid of the fan that had been used to help with ventilation in favor of a wider area of perforation. The fan was dead quiet, so there wasn’t a problem with noise, but I’m in favor of the simpler no-fan design. If nothing else, omitting the fan means there is one less moving part to worry about.

Rogue Audio Tempest II Amplifier review and test

Although Tempest looks like a huge powerful amplifier, in fact, it is very delicate. It needs highly sensitive loudspeakers, otherwise you risk getting too calm, slowed down sound. Now, let speak about the strengths. The sound stage deserves the highest rate. It is very accurate and incredibly deep. The second advantage is neutrality.

For sale is my excellent to mint condition Rogue Audio Tempest II Magnum - it was serviced just this past year by Rogue Audio, which was a complete review of the unit, a bridge rectifier was replaced, some components were replaced with better components, and the bias was adjusted.

rogue tempest - Positive Feedback

    https://positive-feedback.com/Issue25/rogue_tempest.htm
Typical of well executed KT-88 amps, the Tempest did a fine job with hanging instruments out in the listening room and freeing them up from the speakers. There was a good sense of palpability and airiness to the music. This amp certainly satisfied my …

Rogue Tempest II magnum or Cronus Magnum for VR-33

    https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/rogue-tempest-ii-magnum-or-cronus-magnum-for-vr-33
The Tempest is a bit thinner. I forgot the name of the guy I talked to at Rogue (it wasn't Mark) when I was thinking about buying the Cronus. He said the Tempest is probably the most solid state sounding amp they build, and that they sell far more Cronus' than Tempests. The one redeeming thing to my tastes about the Tempest was its passive preamp.

Rogue Audio reviews

Rogue Audio Tempest II amplifier is of a closed design and is distinguished by advanced switching capabilities. It is equipped with the simplest remote control system, designed for five sources (the Phono input is linear and intended for an external RIAA-corrector) and has three pairs of outputs that...

OTOH, I heard a Rogue Cronus Magnum driving a pair of British ProAc Studio speakers at my audio dealer, and it sounded phenomenal. I should say that any comparisons between the Sphinx and Pharaoh are only somewhat familial. The Pharaoh is a considerably superior piece, from build quality, to preamp stage, to the Phono stage, to the headphone amp.
