But as soon as I turn the car more than 10-20c, the sound is switched to stereo at the front speakers (no sound from rear speakers). Then when the car goes back to run straight, it will revert back to surround sound. In rF2 audio output format, it is set to follow Windows. I’ve also tried changing to 4.0 or 5.1, but still get the same result.

It works fairly well, sure, but can never hold a candle to true 7.1 positional audio. Nor a proper virtual surround solution for that matter, because those at least work with true 7.1 (well, 5.1 if you're using any Creative card that's not like a decade old, because they basically stopped supporting 7.1 audio) sound again, not with stereo sources.

The audio engine is pretty good in RF2 but it seems that the audio mix hasn't seen any love for a long time. Here's what this config does: Kerb audio reacts properly to speed. Small changes to tyre sound calculation gives better slip angle queue. Audio mix changed to closely match real cockpit and allow more headroom for higher dynamic range.

Btw. i dont know what you mean with the 5.1 sound, because fyi, the PS3 can 7.1. EDIT: I also dont get what you mean with track graphics, because GT5P looks superior. Moving 3D grass, high resolution textures, high poly trackside objects etc. it beats rFactor graphically in everything except anti aliasing and some of the interior textures.

Recently installed rf2 and I love it. However, the game audio crackles. Downshifts, upshifts, kerb sounds. I've tried adjusting the buffer count in the player.json settings but to no avail. Also made sure my audio settings weren't on 5.1. Has anyone experienced this and found a way around it? Rf2 is the only sim that does this to me! Thanks all.

Salut la compagnie ! Allez, un p'tit topic histoire de voir si vassalfada, qui travaille un peu dans l'audio, pourrait nous tuyauter quant aux réglages d'un système audio 5.1. Ce format étant possible dans le jeu, peut-être qu'il serait intéressant de voir ce que l'on pourrait avoir comme réglages (enceintes et/ou preset) d'une installation home-cinéma sur le PC
