Reviewed in the United States on December 28, 2013 Verified Purchase This is an incredible third offering from a legendary band. I feel that all three are five star efforts with an edge given to the first one which stands neck and neck with the best Soundgarden ever recorded. I like the soul influence on this one while still crushingly heavy.

Review Summary: Despite containing some of Audioslave's finer moments, Revelations is ultimately a letdown, falling victim to poor songwriting and bland songs. There is no denying that Supergroups often turn out being lame, recycled, and uninteresting. Several recycled rockstars either trying to relive their glory days or make a quick buck.

Review: Audioslave, Revelations - Slant Magazine

As opposed to their previous outings, Revelations is more Cornell-driven than it is Rage-directed, and if the band is to work in the long run, that’s likely the best path for Audioslave to take. Cornell wasn’t the sole reason for Soundgarden’s success, but he’s a solid frontman and Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk are better off to have him.

given the short distance separating audioslave 's second album, out of exile, in 2005 and their third, revelations, in 2006, it's easy to assume that the rage against the machine / soundgarden supergroup has finally turned into an actual working band -- either that or the group is working hard to get to the end of their contract so they can go …

AUDIOSLAVE probably made the smartest decision possible when the band elected to go straight from the road into the studio to write and record its third album, "Revelations".Unlike last year's "Out of Exile", which came two-and-a-half years after the group's 2002 debut and sounded flat and largely lifeless, "Revelations" crackles with the energy of a live band at the top of its game.
