I have always had some iPod integration issues with the RCD 510. In addition to the lagging file index problem (partially fixed with firmware updates), I have had sound quality issues. To find out, I have been comparing the RCD-510 to my home stereos, iPod earphones, and even the non-Monsoon stereo in my 2002 Golf TDI. All sound considerably better than the RCD-510. I turn the treble and midrange down about halfway and boost the bass a bit.
