i wrote a shell script that switches between the internal sound card and an usb card as soon as i dock my laptop. The script is triggered by an acpi-event that's generated when the laptop is docked. Everything works fine, if the script is run from the command line as the user that started pulseaudio.

I figured out that I need to change the output device in pavucontrol to "Jack sink (Pulseaudio Jacksink)" and also Input to "Jack source (Pulseaudio Jack source)". I understood it after reading the ArchWiki section "The shell script method": "4. manually send PulseAudio apps to JACK output (pavucontrol may come in helpful for this)"
