sound - pulseaudio not running on nonstandard /home …

    https://askubuntu.com/questions/623911/pulseaudio-not-running-on-nonstandard-home-14-04-1-lts-permissions-errors
I am having an issue with pulseaudio running, as it reports back that it does not have permissions to run in /home; this is true, because that is not where my home folder is located. The result is that I have no means to adjust my audio; I can hear things like videos on firefox, but they come out weakly and from only the left front speaker.

Pulseaudio stopped working [SOLVED] / Newbie Corner / Arch ...

    https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=114398
Ah yes, I'm sure the fact it is an NTFS partition doesn't help... With ntfs-3g you can choose one owner for all files at mount time, so I guess that means per-file ownership isn't handled. You could try mounting your home partition with options like "umask=077,uid=1000,gid=100" (that's what I have anyway).

Once the ntfs filesystem is not mounted to /home you can either create a new filesystem for /home or use the existing directory which should be empty.

I've relocated my home to a diff machine using NFS on my small home network (this issue involves two machines both running UbuntuStudio 12.04 LTS). Everything seems fine except Pulseaudio. I'm getting these errors: [edit 1] This is the output from the volume control: "Connection to PulseAudio failed. Automatic retry in 5s.
