sound - MPD with pulseaudio - Ask Ubuntu

    https://askubuntu.com/questions/555103/mpd-with-pulseaudio
The MPD daemon, when running system wide, is unable to access Pulse Audio devices running in a user session. As it is in theory possible to run Pulse Audio in system wide mode, this is not recommended, at least we should not do so in a desktop setup. It would then be a much better option to run MPD from userspace.

Re: [SOLVED] Problems with ALSA and PulseAudio: no sound in MPD. My first guess would be that you start mpd before you start pulseaudio. That would mean that mpd cannot connect to pulse, thus not being able to output the sound. This does not see to be the case though, as Plex is also not producing sound.

MPD: No Mixer (PulseAudio) - Applications - Manjaro Linux ...

    https://archived.forum.manjaro.org/t/mpd-no-mixer-pulseaudio/59357
MPD: No Mixer (PulseAudio) So I've gone through the Arch Wiki to setup both mpd and ncmpcpp. For mpd to work with PulseAudio on a "Per-User" basis, I edited the /etc/pulse/client.conf to have autospawn = yes. The issue I'm having still, however, is that ncmpcpp still show "Volume = N/A" and "MPD: No Mixer". Below are my mpd and ncmpcpp …
