Can't capture output audio with Audacity and PulseAudio

    https://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=2469187
I'm trying to record a sound clip from my system, but I can't get Audacity to record from any device other than the built-in mic (ALSA/default). I have PulseAudio Volume Control installed, and all packages are up-to-date. When I launch audacity, it'll happily record audio from the mic, but it throws errors if I choose anything other than "default" for the input device.

arch linux - Audacity doesn't work with pulseaudio anymore ...

In audacity's preferences it only says ALSA in the top dropdown, im not sure if that is supposed to be like that or if it said PulseAudio before. There aren't even all my devices in the playback tab. Same goes for the recording device selection, but the loopback device I need to record from is there, so that works.

Pulseaudio, Alsa, Audacity and resampling - Sound ...

To record at full fidelity in Audacity, I simply uncomment the custom bit depth and sample rate (s24le/96000) in /etc/pulse/daemon.conf and then pulseaudio -k. When I’m done recording I have to recomment those lines, and pulseaudio -k. Any insight or recommendations would be appreciated, David
