The ps3 seems to give a static sound while in xmb. It loads up well but just makes a static noise via the TV speaker. I use the red and yellow cord and not hdmi. Tried using the hdmi cable but didn't work as console does not respond to touch after powered on. So am pretty much stuck. Please I need help. The fan worlmks fine.

That will make your home theater output 2.0 audio but there will be 0% chance of encoding problems as the audio will be already raw data.
