OK! So here is what worked to get mp4 files played perfectly without going into TRANSCODE folder. 1. On the PS3, in Audio Output Settings, I only selected Dolby Digital 5.1 ch. as an option (besides the linear ones that are automatically selected) 2. I can't test this on the PS3, but the new rip works in Media Player which was not the case before. I followed your suggestion and selected MPEG4 Audio instead of MP3. I also upped the bit rates for audio and video. They were set at 0. I selected 1024 for video and 192 for audio.
