I tried putting it into the web.conf and it didn't show up, although neither is anything that was put into the web.conf by default. The .asx link just gives you a playlist for WMP. If you download the playlist and look at it with notepad you will find the real stream address.

It's the same on my system. From the pmsencoder.log, I see two requests/threads for each web video stream (separated by about 40 seconds). The video starts playing shortly after the second request starts. I've no idea why PMS does this. It may well be that it would start streaming immediately if it didn't.
