I have connected both the red and white audio wires from the PS3 to my Phillips tv, however the sound only is heard on the AV video function, but the HD video (which is connected via the HDMI-DVI cable) is only displayed on the HD video function on the TV. I have heard to bad artifacting caused by dodgy cables but I never really suspect the cable as the problem. If you do return could you please mark the thread as solved.

Make sure you have actually selected HDMI as the output. Hold the power "button" down for about 5 seconds, and it will reset the video and detect that HDMI is being used. I am guessing that you might have had component or composite video selected, and you can't see a picture because the PS3 will only output one kind of video or sound at a time.
