    AAC is just another audio format like MP3. Games for the most part send their sound as either an uncompressed sound wave (called PCM) or using Dolby/DTS. AAC mostly just appears in music, so like L3379 said, it's for playing back music on the PS3 that you have in that format. As far as I know, AAC is not used in any game.
