PS Audio has a $1000 add-on power supply for the PCA2, which probably would close the gap. I also concluded that the PCA2 was a touch sweeter, and had a bit more detail at the back of the soundstage, and was slightly less "hifi-ish". The PFR cost nearly $3k, so I consider the PCA2 a substantial bargain at current prices.

The PCA was better than all in my system. The only one that I tried that was marginally better was the Pass Labs XO.2.

Nice review..... I find the PS Audio PCA2 to be an outstanding preamp and an incredible bargain at current prices. I also owned the CJ PFR and the 'higher end' CJ Premier 18LS and consider PS Audio PCA2 to be superior to either solid-state CJ.
