Re: PS Audio Digital Link III DAC. I suspect the designer wanted to run the DAC chip at its optimal rate. Defeating the SRC would thus degrade the DAC's behavior. I think most of the manufacturers including PS Audio and Benchmark Media do upsampling or Asynchronous Reclocking with Upsampling to reduce jitter.

A few notes about the PS Audio, it has automatic switching between it's 3 inputs (USB,optical and coax) there is no power switch and you can switch between 96 and 192khz upsampling (I have yet to experiment with the difference here). Build quality is superb and is quite heavy for such a small thing, I believe there is a large transformer inside.

If you want to play SACD and have your PS Audio DAC play them, you will have to configure the Oppo to convert the SACD data to regular PCM data before playing on the coaxial digital output. Setup Menu => Audio Format Setup => Coaxial/Optical Output => set to "192k LPCM" Setup Menu => Audio Format Setup => SACD Output => set to "PCM"
