Re: PS Audio Digital Link III DAC. I suspect the designer wanted to run the DAC chip at its optimal rate. Defeating the SRC would thus degrade the DAC's behavior. I think most of the manufacturers including PS Audio and Benchmark Media do upsampling or Asynchronous Reclocking with Upsampling to reduce jitter.

PS Audio has just released new DAC that is the successor to the D-Link III and is in the same price range as the D-Link III. It is very new and have seen no reviews of it yet. A few notes about the PS Audio, it has automatic switching between it's 3 inputs (USB,optical and coax) there is no power switch and you can switch between 96 and 192khz upsampling (I have yet to experiment with the difference here). Build quality is superb and is quite heavy for such a small thing, I believe there is a large transformer inside.
