I recall using this version in the past and not having the issues I'm experiencing now. Other games suffer too, like Hybrid Heaven (runs full speed, but every thirty seconds, the game itself will skip for half a second, and continue).

    So here is my fix. Start ---> Run ---> type in: dxdiag ---> click on the sound tab ---> under Direct X features, bring your slider on Basic Acceleration. If you have audio problems, post here to lemme know if this fixed your problem. This should/could fix your problem. If not, slide the slider a bit further. Hopefully this helps.

    It works correctly if fixed audio timing is enabled. So there are 2 solutions to this problem. Enable FAT for Vigilante 8 or make FAT the default setting and merge #535. I recommend enabling FAT by default since it will fix other problems with games that can crash with FAT disabled like Turok Dinosaur Hunter or Pokemon Stadium.

    The game performs well at the native N64 frame rate, but the audio seems to crackle nonstop in some areas, such as inside the great deku tree. I’m new to emulation, and I’ve tried all of the previous solutions including disabling fixed audio timing, adjusting the refresh rate, changing counter factor and memory size; nothing seems to work.

    The installer is an external program which doesn't factor in to the conditions of the software itself, or its source code. Stop relying on pre-compiled releases and just build from the source on a sane platform (which Project64 has yet to be ported to). x64 is not worth releasing as stable for 2.3, at all.
