I upgraded to Fedora 35 two days ago. At first, everything seemed to be working fine. But suddenly I had sound (and video) problems. Video was playing every 20 seconds one frame, audio not at all. After restarting everything seemed to be fine. But at some point, not even rebooting solved the issue. So I tried systemctl --user enable --now wireplumber. This solved …

Select the Playback tab and adjust the volume bars accordingly. You might find you have to unmute them. If you just see System Sounds as an option, then you probably don’t have anything running at the moment. Run a program that generates sound so you can see if it’s muted. You can then head over to the Output Devices menu and raise the volume.

All of that would not be a problem but I also have an ubuntu 9.04 installed on a virtual machine (by using virtualbox) and audio recording doesn't work there. I suppose that it is becase of the virtual sound card is using default devices for playing and recording audio. I must say that audio playback works fine in both host and guest systems.
