60 Points. 7 y ago. According to my experience, in order for Premiere Elements to import an AVI file, the codec that a particular file uses must be installed on the computer. However, installing a codec doesn't necessarily resolve problems in Adobe Premiere Elements that occur when you import or play files created with that codec.

First off I played the .avi film through the VLC Player. All good. With Premiere Pro I imported the .avi film but only the audio imported. I than play it again in VLC player - audio and video - good.
