We have a nasty add-in at work that occassionally (for whatever arbitrary reason) will gray out features on the Word, Excel or PowerPoint toolbar. Safe mode is the easiest way to tell if it's the culprit. The "fix" is to reset the toolbar settings. Having said that, we've had Norton cause this as well and an update fixes that. Thanks,
