I've built a couple of sealed boxes but the trunk seems to eat up most of the sound. I built a box with the subs facing toward the back of the car, and my latest box has the subs facing the back seat.

porting through the back deck can be easy and hard depending on what your doing. You can do a slot port type of port which will minimize cutting of the metal and cover of the back deck. than doing a trim peice to cover the intrusion of port through the deck cover. with slot ports you have to recreate the box to sound good with a slot port type.
