It all started when i played the portal 1 demo a glich happened and there was no sound. so i closed it went to play half life 2 and there wasnt any sound, ifound that weird and tried my other source engine games and their wasnt any sound, I decide to just buy Portal 2 and as you gussed it no sound. non of my other games do this, and i cant find any thing on the internet.

I load media portal, play a movie then I receive audio no video. I restart media portal using the tool bar at the top of the screen, media portal restarts I play the video and it works fine video and audio! Sometimes I have to restart three or four time before it works but it gets there in the end.

Portal 2 runs great from the Steam Client, but I too have no sounds from Glados or Wheatly. I have looked all through my home directories and can find none of the files that you are referencing. I have tried running portal2 from the command line and haven't been successful.
