I have a pair of gorgeous Polk Monitor 7's and one of the tweeters needs to be replaced. I know that the standard replacement is an RDO-194. The RD0's aren't a direct replacement for the Peerless tweeters. The cutout holes would have to be enlarged a little bit, and the XO's would have to be modified. The Peerless equipped Polk's used an extra resistor in the signal path, and it would have to be changed with RD0's. IMO, the Peerless tweeters sound better than the RD0-194's anyway.

Monitor 7's came with a few different tweeters over the years. Peerless, SL1000, SL2000, and SL2500. The replacement tweeters for the SL1000 and SL2000 are RD0-194 and for the SL2500, the RD0-198. There is no replacement for the Peerless tweeter, but you can find them in the classifieds on the Polk forum or Ebay.

Yep the monitor 7 in the picture you showed is the Peerless. That's the good one! I believe the RTA12C used the SL2000 tweeter shown in the picture whereas the RTA12B used the Peerless. I'd have to check on which ones used the SL1000 but that isn't the issue here. So defintely 12C.
