Many Polkies order a new replacement from Polk and dustbin the Silver Coils. Not bad otherwise, though I like my Monitor 4 Series 2's better. The 5jr has the port. The regular Monitor 5's have a PR. My thought would be that the larger Monitor 5's are better... I have a pair of 5jr's and they lack quite a bit in bass (though they are bookself speakers...), and I'm thinking the PR designs of the Monitor 5's would take care of some of that. However, they are a physically larger speaker.

apples to oranges. 5jr doesn't have passive 5jr+ does and it is 6 1/2". 7 does have passive and it should be 8" IIRC and of course much bigger cabinet than either of the 5 models. all up in age and should have their cross overs recapped with much better film caps instead of the electrolytic's and or Mylar caps.
