The DX series was NOT the best sub that Polk ever made. That position is held, and strongly, by the dB series. By far the best Polk speaker made for cars yet. Both the DX and the dB have been discontinued. Thier legacy lives on in the MOMO series although it is a partially empty shell of the former glory of the dB and DX series subs.

Need Advice - Polk DX12. Whats goin on. I;m havin a problem with my car audio system. At medium volume levels the bass from my sub sounds great but when i crank up the volume it gets real sloppy and doesn't sound clean at all. I have a Kenwood KAC 7202 2 channel amp which puts out 460 watts bridged. I have one polk dx 12 inch sub in a sealed box.

They are high reliable if treated right if they stand up to the polk standards. My dad has had polk speakers in his car now for three years of getting played at higher volumes for easily 2 hrs a day. I personally have 2 polk GNX, vey loud subs for only standing 175 watts rms. If you got the money and want a decent SQPL sub, go with them.
