The DX series was NOT the best sub that Polk ever made. That position is held, and strongly, by the dB series. By far the best Polk speaker made for cars yet. Both the DX and the dB have been discontinued. Thier legacy lives on in the MOMO series although it is a partially empty shell of the former glory of the dB and DX series subs.

Need Advice - Polk DX12. Whats goin on. I;m havin a problem with my car audio system. At medium volume levels the bass from my sub sounds great but when i crank up the volume it gets real sloppy and doesn't sound clean at all. After hearing this subwoofer, it made me wonder what a higher priced Polk sub could do so I bought a Polk MOMO MM100 10 inch sub, MOMO 6.5 mid/tweeter combo for the front, and Polk DX 5.25 mid/tweeters for the rear, and I'm waiting on 2 Planet audio tube amps to install my new system. This sub seems to sound excellent with a wide variety of music.
