So, when I saw that Best Buy started carrying Polk Audio for the car, my ears perked up! I was running a Sony Xplod 600 amplifier to power my front sound stage. But it was a little tinny for my personal liking. That was the component I decided to replace. I visited a local Best Buy store and picked up the Polk Audio PA660.4 multi-channel amp.

I don't have any experience with Adcom's smaller amps. All of mine are and have been the 200 watt and above amps (GFA-555 Mk II, GFA-5802, GFA-5500, GFA-565, and GFA-5503). They sound great!!! The MOSFET models (the ones with 4 digit model numbers) soound more neutral to me than the bipolar models (3 digit model numbers).

Polk is a good brand and deserves consideration in your speaker search. However, there are a lot of choices in your budget range so it would pay you to look and listen around before making a final decision. Ordinarily I would not recommend Bose because I think other brands offer sound as good or better for less money.
