As far as I know you need the skype client installed as well as pidgin. Pidgin then uses the so's containing the closed protocol from skype and the encryption that way. I think I once had chat working from pidgin on skype. Never the camera / mic. –

Dear all, I just tested Pidgin on Windows Vista : I found no options for webcam/audio calls, even with XMPP. I understood that VV is in development, and I am willing to help by testing and reporting bugs. Is there a Pidgin wiki page explaining how to instal this unstable vv-version ?
