PAL to NTSC conversion audio out of sync? - digitalFAQ Forum

    http://www.digitalfaq.com/forum/video-conversion/6150-pal-ntsc-conversion.html
Hello everyone. I've done every steps from the guide without any problem but at the end the video is little bit out of sync. I tried many things with Goldwave without any success until I noticed one thing, after de-multiplex in TMPGEnc. the video file is 0:41:07 long and the .ac3 file is 0:41:05 long. I think this is where the problem is.

PAL audio --> slow down 4% ("uncompensated" time compression) --> convert to temp wave --> (if needed, SRC 44.1kHz-->48kHz) --> new PCM file, or Encode to AC3/Mp2 Then remux and/or reauthor. If you're actually going from video-based PAL to video-based NTSC, I'd either do a 5:6 pulldown or a speedup with associated audio. (Depends on content)

I have audio recorded on an H4N (24 fps) and video shot on a C100 (25 fps) that is, obviously, impossible to sync. I’m over in PAL land (Australia). Most of the forums I’ve found are for converting PAL –> NTSC, not the other way around.

NTSC Vsync confusion - AVR Freaks

    https://www.avrfreaks.net/forum/ntsc-vsync-confusion
The TV signal - PAL or NTSC - consists of several signals mixed together. The Horizontal Sync is a 4.7us negative going pulse every 64us (PAL) or 63.5us (NTSC) except in the vertical sync period where it gets a bit complicated - more later - but the critical thing is that there is a falling edge at the start of *every* HSync period.

    https://forum.shotcut.org/t/pal-to-ntsc-exact-speed-conversion/14355
PAL is not faster than 24000/1001 NTSC. PAL has more frames per second than NTSC. But one second of elapsed time is always one second of elapsed time in either format, and Shotcut manages A/V sync by elapsed time, not frames. Said a different way…
