I have my q180 running windows 7 ultimate and xbmc with the HD audio patch, it took a bit of fiddling but i think i've got smooth playback of bluray from my nfs server. Been holding of XBMC until HD sound was there, I'm glad I've done it now though, unfortunately I don't think linux, HDsound and this hardware (q180) is possible.

    6. Q180 cannot output audio via HDMI and Optical at the same time (contrary to WDTV) so I have to manually change the Audio device when I want to output sound to my AV Receiver via optical. I bought this to replace the WDTV and laptop in order to centralize all my media but the Q180 is definitely inferior to them in each domain.
