All via HDMI. When I’ve not got the display energized/on, and I’m listening to anything out of the Motorola HD cable box thru my Onkyo TX SR 805, on their HDMI connections, periodically the audio will cut out…. Briefly… just a one two, or three, seconds or so, then return. This event occurs regularly. IN increments of approximately 5 – 6 minutes.

Hello peakey Most 'TV's' will only handle Stereo audio - especially so via HDMI; they rely on the Source outputting a format they can decode. I have a TX-SR606 on the way to stick in my test rig - Onkyo reckon it ought to be representative of the rest of the Onkyo range in terms of how it passes HDMI audio (or not).

Check your settings and look for the "HDMI Audio Out" under Hardware. I have a Onkyo TX-SR805 and it's 2 generations older than your receiver. Also, be sure the default source for the Blu-ray input is set for HDMI, not analog or optical. Lastly, give that receiver a lot of ventilation room above the heat sinks as Onkyos traditionally run hot.
