There are other ways to view the menu. Assuming the audio section from HDMI works (which is what is actually needed). Sure just 480p but you could use the component out if your TV has that. Or get a component to HDMI converter for like $20. Make sure to turn HDMI Monitor OFF if using an analog out, or it wont display.

I finally got my Onkyo 605 . I hooked up my Laptop on hdmi #2 then ran a hdmi cable from the output to my Plasma TV LG. The problem is that with this setings i have or sound or image but not both. When i set in the Menu HDMI Mntr OUT to Yes i have image on TV but no sound on my Monitor Audio...

The display on the 605 shows that the sound input is 'PCM' 2 channel stereo. I have the XBox and Pionner set to output digital surround sound, but the amp doesn't pick this up. If i connect a Coxial cable to the DVD player and set it to use that to output the sound, the amp shows Dolby Digital on the display no problem.
