Make sure you are using the G.711alaw or ulaw (depending on your location) codecs only on the asterisk trunk to Lync. It sounds very much like when the call is incoming the RTP traffic is proxied by the Asterisk box and forwarded to Lync mediation and therefore as that's how the call is setup you get audio both ways.
