I have plugged hdmi cable from pc to tv and picture is fine. In nvidia control panel there is a setup digital audio option it detects my vga caed and i can select sound turn off or LG tv. so there is a bright spot at the end of the tunnel. In sound/playback only speaker and spdif out appears. i have checked disabled and disconnected devices.

I have an nvidia geforce 8800 gt graphic card. I have my PC - DVI with adapter always connected to my HDTV with a HDMI cable. When I want to switch screens this only works if I start the PC without the HDMI cable plugged in (the adapter). If I start the machine with the cable in it my TV doesn't show up in nvidia control panel.

However, when I try to plug in the hdmi cable, it disabled the sound. I think that this is because it thinks its using hdmi audio. Im using a 3.5mm to rca for my TV. It works with my brothers video card(8800 GT), but doesnt work with the 9800 gx2. I am hoping to use the same method. Any help? I dont want to use S-PDIF unless I have to.
