My surround receiver can't handle above 60Hz HDMI signals, even in passthrough. Like most receivers from what I've found (this is a pretty new mid-level Yamaha receiver). So I end up with 5.1 audio having to go through a HDMI cable to my receiver and my video signal going through DVI (or DisplayPort if I wanted to) to my 144Hz monitor.
