Audio not working on DVD player might result from incorrect menu settings. Check for volume and mute to adjust sound settings back to normal. Check if your DVD player switch settings is correct. Another possible cause to no sound coming from DVD player is the selected audio track that the device might be powerless to handle.

Re: Sound in Windows 2000 (VMware) If your vmx file has no trace of sound, it is probably emulating an es1371 sound chipset, which is supported in win2000 out of the box (as of build 1989) unless you have specified sb16 as the default sound card in your vmx config file. No sound from my Samsung bluray! | Tom's Guide Forum

If I may make a suggestion, I would connect your Blu-ray player directly to your amplifier via HDMI, and then connect the amplifier to your TV via HDMI as well. Select the Blu-ray / DVD input on your amplifier and see if your sound starts to work correctly. Edit: Your Amplifier should have an HDMI input on it for Blu-ray / DVD.
