I am using component cables on a older tv. I checked to see if the problem was the tv by using another tv with the component cables and even used a new set of cables from a previous xbox360. Still no sound just video. Brought the system over to a friends and try hdmi cable and I got video and sound.

usually with this kind of adapter on the tv, the component video signal would go to the green on of the tv and the audio signal would go to the yellow one. rgb cables plug into the green side as the green is the video signal and the blue and red are the colors. the audio red and white would be audio left and right and the yellow would be left blank.

Following the DVD manual instructions, I enabled component video output on my DVD player and popped in Star Wars III to test it out. When I switched to the component video mode on the TV, I can see the picture just fine, but I am not getting audio. Switching to the regular AV mode gives me audio. Same cables, no other connections.
