Dolby atmos movies sound output is completely fine. The sound is restored either by switching off or unplugging the Sky TV box and Firestick from the hdmi ports. It seems that using either of these two items somehow stops the sound for AAC or DTS movies on the plex client but not dolby atmos movies. My shield and TV software are all up to date.

The Windows PMP software not the app download it. Dont login. You need to switch it to fullscreen then goto plex.tv/link. It will prompt you. Then in the top right where the user icon is there is an additional option settings and audio under that. It was pretty frustrating not being able to find that if you just logged into it regularly.
