Re: No Audio Playback in Media Composer. Reply Contact. Try the following. Open Avid and launch a project (any project). Launch the audio tool and try and output tone. If this works, try playing a clip or sequence. You should have audio working for the rest of your session.

Media Composer 2018.12.12. No external video devices (AJA etc) just audio either out of the built in speakers or hooked up to externals. Quick backstory-Project A was working fine. Project B was a new project that media was imported into. Media wouldn't play audio for some reason. Went back to Project A and that audio won't play either now.

The number of frames varies, and there's usually about 3-4 of those lines and then playback resumes. When I delete audio tracks (ie when playback is only video) the issue vanishes. When I playback audio only, the issue exists. I'm editing on Avid MC 8.6.1 on a Mac Pro 2.66 Quad-Core Xeon running Yosemite 10.10.2.
