Component cables don’t carry audio, only video. You have to use the A / V cords or optical cable. billstporJanuary 19, 2010, 10:08pm #3 I don’t know what setup you got, but just because you don’t have an optical cable you are not forced to use the 3 a/v cables.

1 There's an option in the PS2 menu that says something like "Audio out" and you can set to Optical or Component (or "Digital audio output " On, Off, I don't remember quite right), you could try that. If that doesn't work and the video comes fine out of the composite cable and the audio out of the optical, I suggest you just let it go.

Xbox 360. No sound with component cables.... SSJ4Bass 10 years ago #1. Or at least I assume they are component cables. I got a 32 inch led hdtv recently and decided to try the second set of plugs on the av cord for my 360. They are ones that originally came with the xbox, by the way. I'll turn on the 360, get picture just fine, but no sound.

As a note, the diagram in the manual for audio under the component video connection does show the analog audio cables going to an external amp, but that seems illustrative only. I haven't got a home theater in my current ...

I have no idea what model of TV they used. This problem is complicated since I can't tell if it's the lack of compatibility with the TV or the cables that's the issue. However, I was able to test my component cables on my Sony flatscreen, which does support 480p/480i, and I got audio but no video. So perhaps the cables are defective...
