Now, however, in Nero 8 (aka nero vision 5) the video plays but there is no sound, no backgorund music either. I imported dolby-city.vob (the cool start sequence of many movies with 5.1 sound and the helicopter) that plays great with 5.1 sound so I know that the sound is coming out from vision5 - just ther is no sound when playing dv files.

The mpv file plays correctly in VLC (50 seconds), but once imported into NeroVision it claims it is only 22 seconds. Additionally, when I play the preview in NeroVision the video stops at 22 seconds but the audio (mpa) keeps going for the full 50 seconds. Ugh, I just need NeroVision for authoring.

Here is a quickie NeroVision Express (NVE) guide I wrote, hope it helps. Open NVE Choose make DVD > DVD Video click on add files on the right. From the window browse to your files and add them one at a time, wait in between for NVE to do it's thing and when the file is finished add the next and so on til done.
