But if Nerovision doesn’t like the parameters of the original Mp2 audio track it changes it to LPCM when it transcodes it, and I get no sound in the DVD selection playing it on my standalone (Sampo 631CF) or on my computer (WinDVD 4.0). I haven’t figured out yet why Nerovision leaves some Mp2 tracks alone and transcodes others into LPCM.

Or just use Nero Vision, if you have that as part of your Nero install. If it was able to encode those MP4s from DVDs, it should have no problem doing it in reverse. Still, you'd actually be better off just ripping the original DVDs, and then using some basic MPEG editing software to cut out only the bits you want to keep.

I picked Nero because I thought it was the go-to name for this stuff (I'm a newb at this). I find that I can burn Video CDs (video quality passable, audio too), but when I try to burn DVDs, I get video (better quality) but no sound. There is nothing wrong with my DVD player - it plays store bought videos no problem.
