Nero: Normalize audio tracks - Audiogon Discussion Forum

    https://forum.audiogon.com/discussions/nero-normalize-audio-tracks
Normalize is a digital process where the audio file is scanned and the peak signal level is determined. The overall volume level of the file is then raised such that the peak signal is just below digital full signal. If done to several tracks the peak levels will sound the same, but the average volume of any given track may still be higher or lower than another track.

There is a RMS function in Nero which doesn't do a peak normalization, but a normalisation which fits to a human ear. Just try it out. For MP3 there is a cool MP3Gain program available. It allows to normalize either track by track or the entire album by using a value of 89,0 db. It is very cool to create random USB sticks for car listening. I love it.

If Nero does in fact convert to .wav format first before the burning process begins, and if conversion simply reverts my mp3s to their original values, then the only alternative I can see (since using Nero’s “Normalize All Audio Files” isn’t giving me the desired results) is to burn my CDs without checking the “Normalize All Audio ...

Re: Is Nero's normalize function any good for final audio CD? by Hugh Robjohns » Fri Dec 18, 2009 5:10 pm The normalise function finds the loudest sample in a selected track, works out how far below the normalise level that is (the normalise level is normally but not always 0dBFS), and then raises the entire file by that amount so that the ...

From the Nero Express manual, "Normalize Audio Files": Enables a filter that brings the volume of the audio files to be burned into line with one another. This is recommended particularly if the files originate from different sources.
