Even though the Magma New has 160W of Class A S.E.T. glory, I never needed to take it out of its "low" power setting of 60W. I was using Magnepan 3.7i at the time and the sound with a single tube S.E.T. powering them was nothing short of stunning. Even though the GM100 Tube looks expensive, I commonly see them on Ebay for $150.

It uses only two tubes per channel so the signal path is not messed with like it is in typical high-power amp circuits using several times as many tubes. The input/driver tube is the common 6N1p-EB tube.
