Very high CPU load due to PulseAudio latency …

    https://github.com/mumble-voip/mumble/issues/1092
It seems that Mumble requests a very low latency from PulseAudio, resulting in very high CPU load. The PA process eats around 15% and Mumble 10% (+/- 3%). That's at idle and without pressing the PushToTalk key. The CPU is an i5 2500K run...

Mumble / Bugs / #868 High cpu usage when nothing …

    https://sourceforge.net/p/mumble/bugs/868/
After searching for mumble+high+cpu i came over this forums post: "Because of certain circumstances i have to use Mumble on my notebook running Ubuntu. But the CPU usage (even idle) is unaccaptable for me: ~10% mumble ~10% pulseaudio This shortens the runtime of my battery, increases noise and heat, unnacessarily!

PulseAudio problems in Mumble · Issue #1910 · mumble …

    https://github.com/mumble-voip/mumble/issues/1910
There exist two problems with PulseAudio usage in Mumble. Mumble offers "Audio Output" -> "Interface" -> "Device" settings which it "inherits" from PulseAudio, but the ordering of devices in Mumble does not correspond to "PulseAudio Volume Control" (i.e. "pavucontrol") lists.

Mumble / Discussion / Open Discussion: High CPU Usage

    https://sourceforge.net/p/mumble/discussion/492606/thread/c7b22538/
After adding few lines here and there the CPU usage (idle) dropped to 1% mumble 1% pulseaudio Thats 90% idle (up to 50% talking) without quality or latency loss . My personal opinion is that it is even better than before. I can even switch between my power saving option and the default one without restarting mumble. Its really a shame.

mumble stop audio noise suppression while muted to reduce ...

    https://gitanswer.com/mumble-stop-audio-noise-suppression-while-muted-to-reduce-cpu-load-cplusplus-23911390
Our noise suppression needs to know the base-volume level (noise level) of the users surroundings compared to his voice to be able to effectively filter. This causes a constant CPU load. While muted this seems unnecessary - it should be halted. This halting mechanism has to be implemented for all audio systems (PulseAudio, WASAPI, ASIO, potentially JACK).
