There are the Yahoo Messenger, Skype, MSN and the likes. I tried several times using Yahoo Messenger and Skype and it did work perfectly, though there were times when the line or sound was choppy but not that frequent. I also did try MSN but with this I found it hard because I often have MSN Voice trouble.

Recently Skype sound is choppy and slow like it's been interrupted. I have started to delete various app which eventually seems to remedy the problem but 30 min later the choppyness is back. Switching to Skype lite seems to work at first but here also the choppyness returns after a while although after installation the sound is fine.

It sounds to me like your hard drive is stuck in PIO mode and not DMA go to "Start">>"Run" type in devmgmt.msc look for IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers double click then double click on "Primary IDE Adapter" go to the advanced tab and look at the "Current Transfer Mode" if it says PIO then that is your problem.
