There can be HDCP locking issues. It's DRM content protection on HDMI. If the HDCP handshake or whatever doesn't work right for whatever reason then it results in no audio/video. HDCP does not exist for component. It may be the problem here or it may not. I'm just saying that such an issue exists. I don't know if it's the case here.
