My son is doing a similar cat-based detection system for his invention convention. He has 9volt > Power> Motion Trigger > MP3 Player > Synth Speaker. It works just fine although now he has to limit the detection area. Thanks @JackANDJude for the info on this! Do you have the speaker? I don’t think the MP3 player will produce sound on its own.
